June 10, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- According to a recent Port 80 Software (port80software.com) survey examining application server and scripting engine deployments, the majority of the Fortune 1000 Web sites run Microsoft's ASP.NET, ASP and Internet Information Services. The survey, conducted for the month of May, found that 43.6 percent of the Fortune 1000 ran on Microsoft platforms with 12.2 percent running on Java tools, such as J2EE, JSP, WebLogic, WebSphere and Tomcat. PHP ran on 5.2 percent, Cold Fusion ran on 2.7 percent, Perl on 2.3 percent and Python on 0.1 percent. Port 80 Software's recent Web server survey, which also used the Fortune 1000 as it data sample, had Microsoft on top with 53.7 market share, followed by Apache at 22.7 percent. Port 80 Software is a developer of tools for Microsoft IIS Web servers.
